The value of acquisitions and mergers grew 30 in 2018

the mergers and acquisitions market in Colombia registered in 2018 a total of 166 operations, of which 58 have a non-confidential value that totals about US $6.781 million, according to the latest report of the transactional Track Record.
These figures amount to a decrease of 8.29 in the number of operations and an increase of 29.99 in the value thereof, with respect to 2017.

For its part, in the fourth quarter of 2018 there have been a total of 45 operations, of which 16 record a set amount of US $876 million, This implies a decrease of 18.18 in the number of operations and a decrease of 61.32 in the amount thereof, with respect to the fourth quarter of 2017.

From January to December, 43 are low-market (less than $100 million), 14 medium-market (between $100 million and US $500 million) and a high-market (more than $500 million).

In sectorial terms, the financial and insurance sector is the one that most transactions counted over 2018, with a total of 25, followed by health, hygiene and aesthetics, the distribution and retail, and also the food, with 15 operations in each sector.

As far as the cross-border market is concerned, in the year the Colombian companies bet mainly for investing in Peru, with 8 operations, and Brazil, with 4 transactions. For valor, Brazil stands out with US $198,460,000.

On the other hand, the United States (17 operations) Spain and Canada (12 and 11 operations, respectively) are also the countries that most bet on strategic acquisitions in Colombia.

For value Germany stands out, with US $3.380,42 million.

While in the course of 2018, Colombia recorded 18 venture Capital operations, of which 12 operations account for an undisclosed amount of US $360,42 million.

these operations represented a downward trend of 22 in the number of operations and an increase of 166 in the amount, with respect to December 2017.
For the fourth quarter of 2018, the transactional Track Record selected the outstanding operation carried out by Primax Perú, which agrees to the acquisition of the Andean distributor of fuels for US $231,9 million.

REGIONAL PANORAMA

The transactional market in Latin America closes to December 2018 with a total of 2,137 operations, of which 908 have a non-confidential amount totaling approximately US $333.632 million.

These figures are a decrease of 6.35 in the number of operations and an increase of 166.24 in the amount thereof, with respect to the figures of 2017.

Brazil leads the ranks of most active countries in the region with 1,153 operations (decrease of 3), and a decline of 13 in capital mobilized in terms of interannual (US $52.668 million). It follows in the Mexico listing, with 343 operations (an increase of 10), and with a decrease of 50 of its amount with respect to the same period of last year (US $14.379 million). However, it is maintained, together with Peru, as the only countries with an increase in the number of operations.
